Studio and Control
Suites
In the studio and control suite environment
space is at a premium. To provide dedicated support for the mixture of
applications required in today's broadcast facilities, there have
traditionally been two approaches. Either a variety of commercial
enterprise workgroup servers or multiple desktop PCs have been used,
taking up lots of space and causing a support headache over time
because of the differences in systems caused by ongoing changes by
commercial PC manufacturers.
Now using 1U and 4U, 19" rackmount
application ready platforms, vendors can allow broadcasters to maximize
revenue from the usable space in rack rooms, desks, consoles and studio
/ suite environments.
Revision control, flexibility and
scalability in the products means lower cost of acquisition, lower cost
of ownership and planned upgrades and maintenance strategies that can
be revenue generating services, rather than a drain on valuable
resources.
Space conscious servers can be used to
provide dedicated support for single or multiple applications based in
Intel or Sun Sparc hardware.
Entry-level and mid-range systems provide cost-effective processing
based on Intel Pentium-III and Sun Sparc processors.
Most platforms will support multiple
PCI, ISA or Compact PCI expansion boards with exceptional cooling and
value add redundancy features like hot-swap power supplies and hot-swap
SCA SCSI drives. All systems mount in standard 19" rack cabinets, which
can also be purchased from I-Bus as part of your solution.
All platforms are made available with
revision control so you can roll out products based on them, quote them
to customers (even for long lead-time projects), and guarantee the
systems won't change price or specification without your knowledge.
I-Bus offers customers the ability to
customize the appearance (color / logo) and function (mechanical or
electrical) of systems, UPS and power conditioning systems and rack
cabinets. This allows customers to continue their corporate or product
brand image and leverage (existing) advertising spend.
